emberlight at Flextronics featuring the US Secretary of Commerce
For those of you who have heard of Flextronics, I don't need to explain how immensely impactful it is on a global standpoint. However, there might be some people who have not been briefed on the capacity of Flextronics.
Let me do a quick breakdown:
- They're an American Supply Chain solutions company that provides electronics design and manufacturing to OEMs.
- They are the second largest global electronics manufacturing services company by revenue.
- They have manufacturing operations in 30+ countries.
- They are where our very own emberlight sockets are currently being made.
- Their facilities often get very special visitors, such as the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker.
- Alcatel-Lucent
- Cisco
- Fitbit
- Ford Motor Company
- Lenovo
- Intel
- Microsoft
Located in Milpitas, CA our emberlight sockets are made right here in the USA, with our headquarters located just an hour away in San Francisco. After working the kinks out in garages and closets like most start ups do, we moved over to the prestigious Flextronics Lab IX facility in November 2014. Complete with a full workshop of laser printers, all the tools you'd need to build an emberlight socket, and 3D printers right on our VP of Hardware Engineering, Gordon Kwan's, desk.
What is Flextronics 'Lab IX' you ask? It's an 'accelerator program' brought to you by Flextronics that provides investment to selected companies so they can grow and bring their ideas to market.
Though the majority of the emberlight team works and resides in San Francisco, Gordon works day in and day out at the Flextronics facility, along side of some pretty great company.
Some of Flex's past and current customer's include:
As you can see, there's no surprise why a company of this size would get a visit from the US Secretary of State, Penny Pritzker. Our very own CEO Atif Noori was there to check up on our facility and gave her a quick demo of our product.
It's definitely an exciting time for all of us on the emberlight team, and we're proud to be a part of the Flextronics Lab IX program!
